A rose is a rose

The latest torn paper collage. Red roses equal everlasting love or just having fun putting together tiny pieces of different colors to make a picture. I used words from lots of printed material. The best ones came from gardening magazines.

Just some final pieces to be done to finish this guy. The hardest part is thinking of a good name for it.

New Work in Progress

Working on a torn paper collage that is about a subject near and dear to my heart. My late husband Tommy was the Volunteer Fire Chief for many years here in our town. These men and women became a part of our family and I have the utmost appreciation for their willingness, their courage and honor.

They exemplify John 15:13. "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

God Bless The Fire Fighters!

Choosing

I have been working on a warm glass piece off and on for two weeks. This morning I got up happy and excited because I was finally going to get to slump my turtle (the glass had the patterns of a west Texas snapper ) bowl. Guess what, it broke during the slumping process. So I was very disappointed.

So now I am waiting for it to cool so I can figure out what to make of it from here. But now I choose to be happy and think about what other wonderful things it might become.

Choose to be happy!

This is my torn paper collage titled Cotton Rising.

Welcome!

Hi

Well I finally decided to try out blogging.  I really enjoy reading and seeing the wonderful creations other artists put on their blogs and websites.  I hope you will like the ones on here.

Recently, I took a torn paper collage class from Suzy Pal Powell and found something I really liked.  My first piece is called cotton rising and is a celebration of cotton prices finally breaking out of the .50 per lb. range.

Besides doing warm glass, oil painting and collage, I work for Producers Coop Gin here in Colorado City, TX.  After watching cotton prices stay so low that I wonder how the farmers feed their families, the cotton market finally came up.  Now if we could just get some rain!
